The Kestrel Flute key of D minor - It is made from eastern aromatic cedar and is sealed with non-toxic oils giving it a clear, bright voice. It is great for beginners with shorter arms, smaller hands, and is easy to play. This flute is tuned to the key of "D" minor and it can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "F".
This is a high pitched flute and the highest octave in the key of "D" and is a good accompaniment flute for the Condor Bass "D" flute. The key of "D" is the primary key for penny whistles and dulcimers, making this flute a very versatile instrument for playing various music styles.
It can be played as both a 5 hole or 6 hole flute. It has 6 holes and comes with a leather strap over the 3rd hole down from the top that converts it to a 5 hole flute. Even though the strap is covering the 3rd hole down from the top, I encourage beginners to keep your ring finger on your top hand down over the strap to develop muscle memory. When comfortable and after you have developed good muscle memory, just remove the leather strap and experience playing it as a 6 hole flute.
This flute is 15 inches long and includes a free Instructional Booklet "Playing The Native Flute" (Item 26-Instructional Booklet - Playing The Native Flute).
