The Sparrow Hawk Flute key of A minor - It is made from aromatic cedar which produces a warmer sound than walnut and is deeper in tone than the White Tail Hawk "B" flute. It is one of most popular flutes, easy to play, and is ideal for first time flute players with shorter arms and smaller hands. This flute is tuned to the key of "A" minor and it can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "C".

It can be played as both a 5 hole or 6 hole flute. It has 6 holes and comes with a leather strap over the 3rd hole down from the top that converts it to a 5 hole flute. Even though the strap is covering the 3rd hole down from the top, I encourage beginners to keep your ring finger on your top hand down over the strap to develop muscle memory. When comfortable and after you have developed good muscle memory, just remove the leather strap and experience playing it as a 6 hole flute.
